Under its Real Property Services branch, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is providing project management, environmental, and engineering services for the environmental remediation of the former United States Naval Facility in Argentia, Newfoundland. The 10-year, $106M remediation program, which began in the Fall of 1996, is one of the largest environmental remediation projects in Canada.

As custodian of the former American Naval Facility, PWGSC has been mandated to complete the Environmental Remediation of the site to the guidelines set out by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) and return the property to the community for commercial/industrial redevelopment.
