Call for Nominations - Non-Governmental Organizations

Non-Governmental Representation on the Canadian Delegation to the Conference of the Parties II

Eligibility

All representatives from non-governmental organizations working within the area of tobacco control are eligible for nomination. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the Conference of the Parties (CoPII) meeting and must be nominated by an NGO and have a letter of endorsement from their organization to participate.

Deadline for Submissions: January 24, 2007

Submissions: Nominations must be submitted by either e-mail, fax or mail to the Tobacco Control Programme by 4:00 pm (EST). Receipt of nominations will be acknowledged.

Travel Costs

All travel costs incurred as a result of participation at the Conference of the Parties will be covered, in accordance with Treasury Board Guidelines, by Health Canada for the selected NGO representative. Candidates will not be compensated by Health Canada for their participation or for their time away from work. All travel documents (with the exception of country visas), immunizations, medical and dental insurance and medications are the full responsibility of the selected candidates.

Nominated Representative Responsibilities

  • Travel in accordance with Treasury Board Guidelines to CoPII;
  • Be available for the full period of the Conference of the Parties meeting;
  • Obtain permission from your organization to travel;
  • Sign a confidentiality waiver indicating that official Government of Canada positions and information will not be shared before, during or post Conference;
  • Participate in all Canadian Delegation meetings before, during and post CoPII;
  • Participate in all Conference of the Parties activities as deemed appropriate by the Head of Delegation;
  • Act as a liaison for the Canadian Delegation with participating NGOs;
  • Represent Canada with respect and dignity;
  • Complete a travel report upon return to Canada.
