Welcome to the Receiver General for Canada Web Site

As Receiver General for Canada, the Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada is responsible for the following services to Canadian citizens and businesses:

  • Making payments for the Government of Canada

    In fiscal year 2004-2005, the Receiver General issued approximately 231 million federal payments, about 69 percent by direct deposit.
  • Accepting payments to the Government of Canada

    The Receiver General manages arrangements with financial institutions (banks, credit unions, trust companies, caisses populaires) to accept and process payments to the federal government.
  • Preparing the Public Accounts of Canada

    The Public Accounts include the annual audited financial statements of the Government of Canada.
