CHIRPP
Canadian Hospitals Injury Reporting and Prevention Program

CHIRPP is an emergency department based injury surveillance program operated by Public Health Agency of Canada in 10 children's and 4 general hospitals. For this reason, Older adolescents and adults are under-represented in the database. For more information, please visit the Injury and Child Maltreatment Section website.

The number of people who visited CHIRPP emergency departments for treatment of injuries.

Location:
Where the person was at the time of injury.

Activity:
What the person was doing at the time of injury.

Breakdown Event:
What went wrong to result in injury.

Age and sex distribution of the injuried persons
General description of the place where the person was situated when the injury occurred
General description of the area where the person was situated when the injury occurred

Description of the type of energy transfer or lack of vital substance that caused the injury
Description of the activity of the person at the time of injury
Indication of all safety equipment reported in use when the injury occurred
Indication of how the person was treated while at the hospital emergency department
Distribution of all body parts touched by the injury
Indication of the type of injury suffered by the injured person
