Acknowledgements
There are a number of people whose efforts supported our process of deliberation,
analysis and decision over these past two years.
Among them, we must acknowledge Senator Sharon Carstairs, who provided
valuable input until the time she was unable to continue as a Council
member due to new commitments in the Senate. Of course, the senior officials
from Public Works and Government Services Canada and all their staff consistently
provided sound guidance and helpful input to enable us to understand and
inves-tigate many complex options. In particular, we must mention former
Deputy Minister Ran Quail and Associate Deputy Minister Michael Nurse
who were always available to Council members. The Parliamentary Precinct
Directorate was, of course, invaluable throughout our period of review
and we extend our gratitude to René Crête and Patricia Gibson for all
their help. As well, we extend our appreciation to the members of the
Parliamentary Buildings Advisory Council Secretariat, Jennifer Stewart,
Shelagh Cimpaye and Cindy Blocker. They organized our meetings and ensured
that all our requests were responded to very efficiently.
In the production of our report, we are indebted to Sheila-Marie Cook,
Tom Gussman, Ian Sadinsky and Julian Smith for their skill in turning
our passion and vision into words; to Isabelle Dumas and Alice Hughes
for the myriad of production services they provided; to our translators,
Lexi-Tech; and, to Al Albania and Donna Stott at Acart for designing and
printing this report.
