Final Condition
When Work Is Complete
When work arising from the Long-Term Vision and Plan has been completed
in 2025, Canadians will enjoy the benefits of both preserving our most
important national symbol and enhancing the efficiency of government.
Benefits For Canadians
Twenty-five years into the 21st Century, new, renovated and improved
facilities in the Parliamentary Precinct will mean:
- Much-improved support for the public hearings, Committee debates,
and national forums that have become important to our process of government;
- A productive work environment that meets modern standards for health
and safety;
- A communications infrastructure that will enable parliamentarians
to communicate with and serve their constituents better;
- Enhanced security for visitors, parliamentarians, and staff;
- Energy-efficient building systems that save on operating costs and
provide a model for environmentally friendly workplaces across the country;
- Improved access for visitors from Canada and abroad, enhancing the
image of Canada's Parliament and making it a truly public place belonging
to all Canadians.
The Precinct will stand not only as a proud symbol of Canada's heritage,
but as the hub of a dynamic parliamentary system well equipped to meet
the challenges ahead.
