(June 2002) This annotated bibliography was commissioned by
Status of Women Canada in order to begin identifying some of the key sources of
information on the differential implications and impact of international trade
agreements on women and men. It is hoped that this document would make a
contribution to the building of knowledge on the potential outcomes of
international trade agreements for all Canadians.

(December 2000) This paper examines domestic consultative mechanisms for the development of international trade policy, and reviews efforts taken to integrate gender issues into international trade negotiations both nationally and internationally.

In December 1999, SWC held a national consultation on Gender Equality with Canadian women from across the country, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis women. During that consultation, the Aboriginal women requested a consultation dedicated to the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal women, avoiding competition with the mainstream process. In an effort to address these concerns, SWC convened an Aboriginal Women's Roundtable on Gender Equality in Ottawa on March 30-April 1, 2000.

(April 2000) This paper outlines the Government of Canada's experience with gender mainstreaming. "Gender mainstreaming" is a term that came into widespread use with the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action.

(March 2001) The gender equality indicators presented here were developed in conjunction with Status of Women Canada to measure the balance of the experiences of Canadian women and men in three domains: income, work and learning. This is the second edition of the indicators.

(October 1997) Commissioned by Federal-Provincial/Territorial Ministers Responsible for the Status of Women, the Indicators are a selected set of benchmarks to reflect core, interrelated aspects of women's and men's economic lives. They include income from a variety of sources in addition to earnings (measured in money), unpaid as well as paid work (measured in time), and education and job-related training (time and attainment measures that also look at gender predominance in fields of study).

(September 1998) In 1995, the federal government adopted a policy requiring federal departments and agencies to conduct gender-based analysis of future policies and legislation, where appropriate. This guide is a "hands-on" working document developed by Status of Women Canada to assist in the implementation of this government-wide policy.
