ALLERGY ALERT

UNDECLARED MILK PROTEIN IN VARIOUS FLEISCHMANN’S BRAND MARGARINE PRODUCTS

OTTAWA, June 9, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Unilever Canada are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume various Fleischmann’s brand Margarine products described below. The affected products may contain milk protein which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to milk protein.

The following Fleischmann’s brand products are affected by this alert:

The recalling firm, Unilever Canada, Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. These products have been distributed nationally.

Consumption of the affected products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to milk protein. There has been two reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
