ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED SKIM MILK POWDER IN PARADISE BAKERY PRODUCTS: APPLE OR PEACH PIES, BROWNIES OR APPLE FLIPSOTTAWA, March 24, 1999 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers with an allergy to milk not to eat apple or peach pies, apple flips, or brownies manufactured by Paradise Bakery in Paradise, Newfoundland. Products that have a Best Before Date prior to April 7, 1999 contain milk not declared on the label. These products are only distributed in St. Johns, Newfoundland and the surrounding area. Consumption of these products is only of concern to those who are allergic to milk. There have not been any reported illnesses associated with these products. Consumers who have purchased these products can return them to the point of purchase for a refund. Questions concerning these products may be directed to the owner, Jim Penney at (709) 782-6300. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall. -30-
