HEALTH HAZARD ALERT

TATAMAGOUCHE DONAIR SAUSAGE COMPANY DONAIR STICKS MAY CONTAIN DANGEROUS BACTERIA

OTTAWA, November 24, 1999 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume Tatamagouche Donair Sausage Company Donair Sticks due to a risk of botulism. The sausage stick is sold in individual vacuum packed packages of approximately 50 g. The product was manufactured and distributed in Nova Scotia. There is a risk that the product contains the bacteria responsible for botulism in humans.

Botulism is a life-threatening illness caused by toxins produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Food contaminated with C. botulinum bacteria may not look or smell spoiled. Consumers should dispose of remaining product immediately. The product should not be consumed by humans or animals.
