SAFETY ALERT

GLASS PARTICLES IN NEILSON BRAND RASPBERRY YOGURT

OTTAWA, December 16, 1999 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume certain sizes of Neilson brand raspberry yogurt due to potential glass contamination. A voluntary recall has been issued by the company, William Neilson Limited, after receiving a complaint of a glass fragment in a 175g cup of raspberry yogurt. This alert affects the following products:

Neilson Stirred Raspberry Yogurt, 175 g, Best Before Date of DE 06 (printed on top of lid), UPC code 66800 00722, plant number 4332 (printed on top of lid);
Neilson Fat Free Raspberry Yogurt, 750g, Best Before Date of DE 19 (printed on side of lid), UPC code 66800 00671

No other flavours of Neilson brand yogurt are affected.

The product is distributed in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Northern Ontario.

>The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall. Consumers are advised to return the above-mentioned products to the point of purchase.
