Community Policing

Community, Contract & Aboriginal Police Services has promoted and helped divisions implement community policing strategies since 1990. Over the years, various initiatives have been introduced as models for testing and evaluating their effectiveness and efficiency .

One of these has been the development of pilot projects in every division. Each site ensures it:

  • uses modern management principles to foster change;
  • provides the most effective police service to resolve community problems;
  • consults with the community; and
  • uses the newest technology.

These principles not only have changed detachment structure and culture, but have established problem-solving techniques with both the community and police partners.
