Evaluation and Analysis Career Opportunities

CIHR Career opportunities in health research evaluation and analysis

As a federal agency, CIHR has an ongoing responsibility to demonstrate to Canadians that tax dollars are spent wisely. In recent years, public-sector activities have become subject to increased scrutiny, raised expectations, and value-for-money audits and evaluations.

CIHR shall ensure transparency and accountability to Canadians and will monitor, analyze and evaluate issues pertaining to health or health research, as well as evaluate its own performance, as proclaimed in the CIHR Act. CIHR therefore developed an Evaluation Policy whose objective is to make evaluation and performance measurement an integral part of its management practices, producing and using accurate and objective evidence on which to base decisions and reports. As well, as stated in CIHR's five-year strategic plan, in all aspects of the work undertaken by CIHR, including research, knowledge translation and organizational services, CIHR strives to meet the highest international standards of excellence.

CIHR has therefore recently created exciting new positions which will welcome innovative, highly skilled individuals to the Evaluation and Analysis Branch. You will join a new, multidisciplinary team of experts who will support CIHR management, Portfolios and Institutes in implementing world class practices to measure, evaluate and analyze performance and health research data; and provide authoritative evidence for decision-making, policy development and analysis, public reporting and assessing progress toward meeting CIHR's mandate, strategic objectives and legislative requirements.

The Branch is divided into three units and we are recruiting in all three:

  1. Impact Assessments - to assess the impacts of health research
  2. Evaluation - to undertake performance measurement and evaluation of CIHR programs and activities
  3. Data and Analysis - to undertake the development and delivery of health research information services
