Drug Strategy Secretariat and Strategic Policy

The Office of Canada's Drug Strategy Secretariat and Strategic Policy (DSSSP) works with partners to oversee, coordinate and integrate the common leadership activities under Canada's Drug Strategy with other federal departments and agencies, which includes:

  • Public Health Agency,
  • Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada,
  • Department of Justice,
  • Canadian Revenue Agency,
  • Canadian Border Services Agency,
  • Correctional Service Canada,
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and
  • Foreign Affairs.

The DSSSP focuses on drug-related issues both domestically and internationally. Specific key activities include:

  • the establishment of strategy-wide priorities and goals,
  • evaluation frameworks and performance and risk monitoring mechanisms,
  • coordination of the development and implementation of national research,
  • policy and prevention agendas, and
  • the reporting on the success of the Canada's Drug Strategy to parliament and Canadians.
