Mantab Inc fined $16,000 for importing non-declared fish

Pointe Claire-based Mantab Inc (Greater Montreal) has pleaded guilty to importing non-declared fish.

The company violated subsection 6 (2)(e) of theFish Inspection Regulations by failing to provide the Canadian Food Inspection Agency with a written notification prior to importing the fish or within 48 hours of the importation into Canada.

The decision was rendered by Court of Quebec Judge Claude Millette on February 5, 2003 at the Montreal Court House. The company has 16 months to pay the $16,000 fine.
