2005 RCMP Sunset Ceremonies begin this week

Ottawa, June 27, 2005 — The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is pleased to invite the media and the public to experience the 2005 Canadian Sunset Ceremonies from June 29 to July 3 inclusive.

The theme of this year’s performance is "Celebrating our Veterans” in recognition of the Year of the Veteran.

Rain or shine, free performances will run nightly from 7-9 p.m. at the RCMP stables located at the Canadian Police College on St. Laurent Blvd. North.

The grounds can be accessed via OC Transpo route #7. Free parking is available directly off the Rockcliffe Parkway, however, space is very limited.

Proceeds donated by the crowd will be given to the Mounted Police Foundation (MPF) in support of the War Amps and the RCMP Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood. The MPF is a not-for-profit organization that manages the RCMP’s Licensing Program.

Each night, spectators will be treated to a wide variety of performances beginning with a pre-show at 6 p.m. and concluding with the world famous Musical Ride and the signature Sunset Ceremony. (See schedule for further information).

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and be sure to dress for the elements as the show will go on except in exceptionally bad weather. The grounds are wheelchair accessible. Food, beverages and souvenirs may be purchased on the grounds.
