Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE)Introduction
The Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) is a job related physical ability test which is designed to simulate a critical incident where a police officer chases, controls and apprehends a suspect. The test was developed by exercise scientists and is based on extensive research, including a thorough job analysis.
The PARE test costs approximately $40-$60, payable by the applicant. Upon passing, a PARE certificate will be issued and is valid for six months. If the certificate expires during the recruiting process, you will be required to be re-tested at the expense of the RCMP. Should candidates fail to maintain PARE certification, enrolment will be refused. One cannot overemphasize the importance
of good physical conditioning and mental preparedness to take the PARE.
The RCMP believes in employing fit and able officers. Achieving and maintaining
the PARE standard reflects your personal fitness and commitment to personal
health management and is a valuable resource for a future career as a
regular member of the RCMP. |
