Update: FIMCLA Consultations
The Farm Improvement and Marketing Cooperatives Loans Act (FIMCLA) program
remains in place as part of a federal commitment to Canadian agricultural producers.
The program was to have ended on March 31, 2006. The program has been continued
with the understanding that the federal government would consult with industry
on how to make the program more effective.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is now conducting these consultations.
Discussion points include:
- potential changes to program parameters.
- modifications to current delivery mechanisms/processes.
- co-operative development issues.
Links to the consultation documents are provided below along with consultation
