Marine Systems
This organization acquires military and civilian ships, and manages
ship repairs, conversion and drydocking contracts. It is also responsible
for acquiring a broad range of mechanical, marine and electrical
equipment, including spare parts for use aboard vessels, along with
related services such as design engineering; repair, overhaul and
in-service support contracts for ship maintenance services.
The organization is also mandated to conduct inspections on all
civilian ships, marine systems and associated equipment. On a cost
recovery basis, it provides client departments and foreign Governments
with a wide variety of technical services, such as condition surveys
on ships, specification preparation, technical advice and project
management.
The Directorate is a "one stop shop" for all marine services,
from requirements definition; solicitation, contract management,
quality assurance, inspection, project management, maintenance,
modernization through to ship disposal.
