Summary

Climate change remains the most serious environmental global issue receiving the attention and focus of international governments.

Key holdouts to the Kyoto Accord remain despite potentially catastrophic consequences predicted by scientists. In addition, important ecosystems and thousands of plant and animal species face extinction.

As reported in 2002, the most serious environmental issues are induced by humans.
