Exports Plant Exports
The Export Unit is responsible for developing the national policy governing the
issuance of Phytosanitary Certificates for all agricultural and forestry products exported
to foreign countries. It is also responsible for resolving phytosanitary issues for
Canadian agricultural and forestry products, negotiating with foreign countries for less
stringent requirements for Canadian products, developing bilateral Memoranda of
Understanding in the field of plant protection (in cooperation with commodity sections),
obtaining the plant quarantine import regulations of foreign countries and interpreting
them for the CFIA staff and interested industries.
