Notes: 1 Includes sampling done by both the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Agricorp, an Ontario Crown Corporation that is collecting samples from the Niagara Quarantine Area and other isolated quarantine areas. 2 Survey completed on June 6th, 2003. 3 Only Positive blocks and samples officially confirmed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are listed. 1. Survey Activities in Ontario Sampling in Niagara continues as planned. 2. Survey Activities in Nova Scotia A new block has been found positive near Wolfville, 90 km east of the already existing quarantine area. This positive find, which affects only one grower, is the first in Nova Scotia since the year 2000. A new isolated quarantine area will be created. As of now, 3,893 samples have been collected in 141 blocks. 3. Survey Activities in British Columbia The general detection survey began on May, 2003 The survey was completed on June 6th, 2003. In total 1,427 samples were collected from 31 blocks belonging to 4 nurseries. Plum pox virus was not detected in any samples tested. PPV has never been found in the Province of British Columbia. 4. Survey Activities in Quebec The general detection survey in Quebec began on June and is still ongoing. As of now, 26 samples collected from 9 blocks have been analyzed. All samples are negative. PPV has never been found in Quebec. |
