Canadian Health Research Awards: |
The award is given annually to the highest ranking candidate focusing on cancer research who applies to one of the two Fellowship competitions each year (October and February).
Jean-François St-Denis, PhD, (August 14, 1966 - March 2, 2004) joined CIHR in 2000, after completing a PhD at the University of Montreal and postdoctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. As Deputy Director in the Knowledge Creation Programs Branch at CIHR, Dr. St-Denis was highly respected and well known for his careful attention to detail and his helpfulness to health researchers.
Eligible candidates are those researchers with a focus on cancer research who are applying for the regular Fellowship Award, and who are ranked high enough to be approved for a regular Fellowship Award. Trainees funded currently through CIHR grants, including CIHR Strategic Training Program Grants, are also eligible to apply for the CIHR Jean-François St-Denis Fellowship in Cancer Research through the CIHR Fellowship Award competition.
Refer to the program description for general application procedures. Fellowship applicants with a focus on cancer research who wish to be considered for the CIHR Jean-François Fellowship in Cancer Research should indicate the name of the program under the Special Program section, on page three of the Training Module. Please note that indicating this award does not restrict an applicant's chances of being approved for a regular CIHR Fellowship.
