Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (PDF) is managed by the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) and offers highly trained and qualified professionals the opportunity to conduct research in Health Canada facilities under the mentorship of departmental employees. These people work in a wide range of scientific areas, including biological, physical, environmental, and social sciences. Fellowships are also offered in the areas of policy research and analysis, in particular as they relate to the translation of scientific knowledge into policy.

PDF Competition

In partnership with the Branches across the Department, the OCS is inviting applications for Health Canada's third Postdoctoral Fellowship Program competition.

About the Program

The fellowships are granted for up to two years with an annual stipend of $43,000. The competition is held annually, with requests for applications being announced towards the end of each calendar year.

During the first competition, approximately 10 fellowships will be awarded each year, so that from the third year of the program onwards, there will be up to 20 postdoctoral fellows working at Health Canada each year.
