CIHR is in the process of developing a policy that will aim to promote greater sharing of CIHR-funded research outputs, including published results, research data, and research materials. By enabling timely and efficient access to research outputs, CIHR believes that it will enhance the creation of knowledge, reduce duplication of research efforts, and more effectively translate the results of CIHR funded research into social and economic benefits for Canadians.
Advisory committee
CIHR has established an external advisory committee to guide the development of the policy. The committee is composed of leading health researchers from across the country, representing the full spectrum of health research that CIHR funds.

Survey
CIHR sought preliminary feedback from the health research community and other stakeholders through a survey questionnaire that was posted on the CIHR web site in April 2006. We received many valuable comments and suggestions.
The results of the survey are summarized in the "Access to Outputs of Research - Survey Report".
Consultation
CIHR is seeking your input on the proposed Policy on Access to Research Outputs. The deadline for feedback is November 24, 2006. Please consult the following, "Consultation on a CIHR Draft Policy on Access to Research Outputs".
