Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Prince Edward Island
Canada
This crescent-shaped province is about 280 kilometres
long and no more than 60 kilometres wide. A vivid
burst of colour in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, on Canada’s
east coast, Prince Edward Island is a perfect vacation
destination. Canada’s smallest province is
a favourite with travellers who enjoy the scenic
beauty, a host of activities, history and culture,
world-class golf, sandy beaches and fresh seafood.
Canada Was Born Here
Prince Edward Island is known as the “Birthplace
of Confederation”. The idea of a nation was
conceived at the 1864 Charlottetown Conference.
At that conference, the Fathers of Confederation
proposed
the union of the colonies of British North America
which was later to be known as Canada. For more
information on P.E.I vist the Prince
Edward Island Tourism
website.
Anne Was Born Here
Popular fictional orphan Anne of Green Gables was
born from the pen of author Lucy Maud Montgomery,
here in Prince Edward Island. Visit the Green Gables
home, Montgomery’s birthplace, and the Confederation
Centre of the Arts where the musical adaptation of
the book has been running for more than 35 years.
City of Charlottetown
Nestled inside a beautiful harbour at the confluence
of three rivers, the City
of Charlottetown has been
welcoming visitors for over 200 years. Named after
Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III of England,
Charlottetown is now the largest community (approximately
30,000 people) in the province, and serves as a
busy commercial, government, university and cultural
centre.
Charlottetown has dozens of excellent hotels,
motels, and guest homes to accommodate the more
than half a million holiday and business travelers
who visit the city each year. Similarly, Charlottetown
has responded to its increasing popularity as a
convention destination with top quality meeting
facilities to accommodate meetings or special events
of all sizes.
"We're a City That Loves Company
and We're Proud to Offer You Our Hospitality" Canwell 2006
Canwell 2006
is the biennial Canadian groundwater industry convention
and conference which gathers
professionals from the groundwater industry from
this and other nations. This event will combine
a two-day trade show, an outdoor demonstration and
several technical presentations given by experts
in the industry.
The conference will not be all business. We also
plan to have some fun. A golf tournament will be
held at the Fox
Meadow Golf & Country Club as an opener to this convention on Wednesday May
17.
Scheduled tee off times will be around 12:00 pm.
Book early for the best tee times as space may
be limited.. To register for
the golf tournament, print and
fax the golf registration form to (902)- 434-7827
Some good old down-east entertainment is also planned
throughout the convention for your enjoyment, both
during and after the events of the day.
A trip to Prince Edward Island would not be complete
until you have had a delicious lobster supper at
one of our finest lobster supper restaurants. An
evening of food and entertainment is planned at
an adjacent restaurant Peakes
Quay, one of Charlottetown's
premiere restaurant and night club on the waterfront.
