Policy Initiatives

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is actively engaged in a number of policy initiatives that lead to greater public engagement and improved understanding of ethical issues in the broad research community. These initiatives allow CIHR to develop policies that guide the ethical decision-making process related to complex and innovative areas of health and health research.

The Ethics Office is also responsible for advising on and supporting development of the CIHR Stem Cell policy, including policy employed by the Stem Cell Oversight Committee (SCOC). SCOC is a committee of Governing Council of CIHR and reports to the Governing Council.
