Partnerships with Government

Interest in health research and its resulting contributions to the well being of Canadians transcends the mandate of CIHR and is closely linked to the priorities of many other federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) departments and agencies, and municipalities. CIHR, through its 13 Institutes actively engages other FPT departments and agencies by seeking input into strategic initiatives and research agendas and by jointly funding areas of mutual interest.

Partners interested in understanding CIHR's approach to partnerships with Governments can consult CIHR's guidelines to Collaborating with Other Public Sector Organizations.

A listing of the federal departments and provincial funding agencies with which CIHR collaborates is available under Useful Links.

CIHR fosters relationships with provincial and federal ministries alike by entering into funding collaborations such as the CIHR Regional Partnerships Program and the Partnerships for Health System Improvement Program.  Organizations from the public sector interested in these partnerships with CIHR should contact the Partnership Branch for more information.
