The Salvation Army Brings Relief in B.C. Floods

For two weeks southern Briitsh Columbia has been severely impacted by almost continuous rain, which has felled power lines, destroyed property and, because water supplies have been silted, created a severe water shortage in the lower B.C. mainland. The Salvation Army has been heavily involved in alleviating some of the disruption to life, and Captain John Murray, the Army’s Director of Public Relations in B.C. reports that success is due to effective community partnerships.

Giving Hope at the Toronto Santa Claus Parade

parade_1.jpgA large Salvation Army contingent participated in the 102nd Toronto Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, November 19, one of the largest of its kind in North America. Led by a large banner proclaiming the Army’s new slogan, “Giving Hope Today,” the total delegation consisted of a colour party, timbrellists, and a huge composite band including members of the Canadian Staff Band and musicians from several corps in Ontario Central, East and Great Lakes Divisions. The SalvationArmy.ca Online Christmas Fundraising Contest - Audio Interview

For the first time, The Salvation Army is running a fund-raising contest in support of the annual Christmas Appeal. The three top fund-raisers will each receive an 8GB iPod Nano. The contest is being managed by SalvationArmy.ca web master, Jeremy Watt.
