Comment:
This field allows an organization to include a comment with its
OSI registry information. The comment can be used to communicate
whatever information the applicant wishes (e.g. Business orientation,
organization specialization, etc.). The comment must be acceptable
to COSIRA/GORA. COSIRA/GORA will be the sole judge of what is acceptable
and its decision will not be subject to review.
Request Forms:
Where a request form permits an applicant to specify an alphanumeric
name, that name must be one which the applicant has the right to
use. You may not, for example, use another organization's trademark
as your alphanumeric name.
Registration Action - Record Change:
An organization can apply to change certain types of data in
the OSI registry for information objects that it has registered.
Registered numeric and alphanumeric name values and organization
names may not be changed. Instead, the organization must apply to
deactivate the existing entry (see Registration Action: Deactivation,
below) and apply to register the changed name.
Registration Action - Deactivation:
An organization can apply to deactivate an entry in the OSI database.
Deactivated entries remain visible in the Registration Database
and may not be reused or reassigned.
Registration Action - Reactivation:
Deactivated entries may be reactivated at the request of the owner.
Challenge:
All applications for registrations are subject to a 90 day open
public review period, during which time the assigned alphanumeric
names can be challenged. Following the end of the 90 day review
period or the resolution of all challenges, the assigned value will
be promoted to the status of a permanent registered value.
The applicant must have the right to
use the alphanumeric name. It is the responsibility of the applicant
to ascertain that it has the right to the alphanumeric name and
to demonstrate this in writing to COSIRA. COSIRA shall not be held
liable if an applicant submits an alphanumeric name to which it
does not the a right. COSIRA reserves the right to refuse registration
of an OSI information object when there exists direct evidence that
the applicant holds no right to use the requested names or addresses
or where the applicant does not demonstrate the right to the satisfaction
of COSIRA.
