Registration of NSAP Addresses
ISO Standard
8348/Addendum 2 specifies a globally-unique network layer addressing
scheme to allow networks to be attached to each other. The addresses
are referred to as Network Service Access Point (NSAP) addresses.
The CSA Standard Z243.110.2 describes two NSAP Addressing Structures.
The government of Canada uses the Value 80 format.
The Organization Identifier (Org-ID) assigned will be expressed
in Decimal and will need to be converted to HEX.
Delegation of Authority
The assignment of a DCC format NSAP DSP address component by the
COSIRA/GORA gives the registering organization the right to assign
subordinate DSP address components.
Minimum Criteria for Registering an Org-ID
An organization applying for registration of an Org-ID must meet
the following minimum requirements:
- the applicant operates or intends on operating a network (public
or private) within Canada using NSAP addressing based on the ISO
DCC scheme;
- the applicant intends on connecting to another network outside
its jurisdiction that supports NSAP addressing according to International
Standard ISO 8348/Add.2; and
- the Org-ID is not used as an identifier for a single end-system.
Number of Org-IDs per Organization
An organization may have more than one registered Org.-ID.
Caution: The existence
of multiple Org-IDs per organization has routing management implications
and therefore is not encouraged.
By clicking on "Register" you
will be prompted to fill out TWO forms, General Information
form and NSAP form.
