Institute of Infection and Immunity (III)

Who We Are

III is one of the 13 virtual institutes that make up the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

III Vision

The Institute seeks to achieve national and global leadership through supporting research in health and public policy on the control of infectious diseases, and to harness healthy immune responses to protect against or mitigate health challenges.

III Mission

Establish national leadership, priorities and programs that promote innovative research to reduce the global burden of infection and immune-based disease and improve the quality of life.

III Goals

III promotes and supports excellence in internationally recognized research in the areas of infection and immunity. The Institute interacts with scientists, community groups, non-governmental health organizations and global researchers to identify research priorities, establish partnerships and undertake collaborative research initiatives.

III Community

The III community is made up of researchers, scientists, community groups, and individuals from around the world who share an interest in infection and immunity issues. III activities are managed by a highly respected Scientific Director and a small, professional staff. A dedicated Institute Advisory Board (IAB) provides essential community input and guidance into everything we do.
