and providing scientific and risk management support to food inspection programs;
providing scientific support for the development of policy respecting
ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection and judgement of animals at slaughter;
providing epidemiologic support for development of pilot projects and
special surveys;
providing international liaison with other food safety agencies to
encourage collaboration in food safety risk analysis projects;
reviewing international and national data respecting food safety and
factors influencing food safety to provide appropriate evidence for development of food
safety policies and procedures;
