Commercialization Activities

Commercialization Activities Related to CIHR Funding :

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has launched a project to identify spin-off companies that were founded by CIHR funded researchers at Canadian universities and research hospitals. CIHR University Delegates, as well as technology transfer or university-industry liaison offices, have been provided with a spreadsheet tailored to their institution to validate information on these spin-off companies and identify any missing spin-off companies. We hope to have a list of spin-off companies founded by researchers that have received support from CIHR compiled by September 1st, 2006.

We are requesting that you identify the commercialization activities (spin-off companies, licenses, companies formed by graduate students) at your institution which can be attributed to CIHR funding.  These commercialization success stories will be  profiled by CIHR in the future. This information can be forwarded to the following e-mail address: commercialization@cihr-irsc.gc.ca.

We recognize that in many cases, CIHR-funded research was part of a multi-partite realization of commercial opportunities.

You are invited to view a commercialization web profile on spin-off companies.
