Improving the Quality of Health Care in Canadian Hospitals

The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), along with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), are jointly funding research to determine the extent of adverse events (avoidable and otherwise) in Canadian hospitals and the availability of data that could serve to monitor and reduce health system adverse events. To further this, a Stakeholder Forum has been established to facilitate two-way communication from the outset of this important research project. It is expected that this will position stakeholders to anticipate results and to address them in a proactive and constructive fashion.
