Canadian Agricultural Skills Service
The Canadian Agricultural Skills Service (CASS) aims to help farm families improve their business and increase their income or seek other employment opportunities through training and skills development.

Eligibility Information
Established farmers must meet the following criteria:
- be engaged in commercial agricultural production or be a member of a corporation or cooperative, and have annual gross farm sales of $10,000 or more
- have an average net income or family net income of less than $45,000 over the last three years
- be out of high school for at least two years
- not be receiving employment insurance benefits for training
- other criteria may apply
Beginning farmers must meet the following criteria:
- be engaged in commercial agricultural production for less than six years or show intention to farm, and show that the farming operation has or will have gross farm sales of at least $10,000 per year
- have an average net income or family net income of less than $45,000 for the previous year
- be out of high school for at least two years
- not be receiving employment insurance benefits for training
- other criteria may apply
Application Information
- In British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut and Yukon, Service Canada administers CASS.
