Applicant Registration provides CIHR with the basic information needed to identify in advance a peer review committee and potential reviewers, which leads to a more effective peer review process. On-line applicants do not need to re-enter the information in the case of future applications.
Note that:

3. Print and read the Guidelines for Completion for Registration.
4. Log into the CIHR Web forms, select "Create New Application" and choose "Research Resource" from the list of funding opportunities.
5. Complete and print the registration pages of the Research Module - [Web forms]. Do this by selecting the "Registration Pages Only" print option.
Guidelines for Completion of the Research Module Specific to this Opportunity:
6. Append the following two documents to your registration.
Need for the Equipment and/or Maintenance, and Information on Main Users
A) Attach up to 2 pages numbered Page 8a and 8b
Briefly describe the core research resource being requested, as well as the needs that would be satisfied. State the benefits of submitting a Research Resource application as opposed to an operating grant application. Also indicate the location of the closest facility to your workplace that already houses similar resources for which funds are being requested and describe the ease with which this equipment, service or tool may be used, in terms of accessibility and travel requirements. Include the overall situation at your institution(s) and/or city with respect to the availability of the required resource. For one time funding requests exceeding $150,000, applicants are required to explain why they are not seeking funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
B) Attach one page numbered Page 9
Identify the types and number of main users (i.e. applicants) and the estimated total level of utilization. List the name of each applicant along with their sources of grant support including the grant number, title, amount per year, and term of grant (i.e. start and end dates) for each funded project that the request is proposed to support.
7. Complete and print the registration pages of the Common CV - http://www.commoncv.net/ [External Site]. Do this by selecting "Finalize and Submit" and then "Registration CV".
8. Send, by courier, 2 copies (1 original, 1 copy) of the registration package to:

Acknowledgement and application numbers
An application number will be sent by e-mail to the Nominated Principal Applicant within 2 weeks after the registration deadline date. If, within two-weeks of registration, an email of Acknowledgement from CIHR has not been received, it is the responsibility of the applicant to contact CIHR. Each application number will be unique to the application in that competition. If, after registering, an applicant decides to defer or cancel submission of the full application, CIHR should be notified of the withdrawn application(s) in writing. A list of registrants for a competition will be made available to the Research Grants Office at the Nominated Principal Applicant's institution.
