INTRODUCTION

1. All Systems and system peripherals must be proposed by category (performance level).

2. As a minimum, all systems covered by this document shall include:

2.1 the workstation/server;
2.2 the power cabling required;
2.3 the monitor, power and connectivity cabling and all software/drivers/utilities;
2.4 a mouse;
2.5 a keyboard;
2.6 the operating system;
2.7 all operating system software/drivers/utilities included and if required by the customer the operating system software/drivers/utilities are to be installed and bootable;
2.8 Ethernet connectivity cabling, connectors/terminators and all software/drivers/utilities required;
2.9 diagnostics;
2.10 all available user and technical reference manuals included by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM); and,
2.11 all other requirements that are essential to ensure client's intended functionality. Application software is not included.

3. Also as a minimum, all peripherals covered by this document shall include:

3.1 the peripheral;
3.2 the peripheral housing and/or mounting hardware as required;
3.3 all power and connectivity cabling, connectors/terminators, adapter card(s) as required;
3.4 all related operating system software/drivers/utilities;
3.5 diagnostics;
3.6 all available user and technical reference manuals included by the OEM; and,
3.7 all other requirements that are essential to ensure client's intended functionality.

4. All equipment proposed must comply to (Excluding Monitor):

4.1 CSA C22.2 No. 950 or UL 1950;
4.2 FCC Part 15, Subpart J, Class A.

5. All monitor proposed must comply to:

5.1 UL 1950; CSA C22.2 No. 950; EMI/RFI DOC Class B; FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B.

6. Warranty/ maintenance services for all proposed systems shall include:

6.1 On site for 1 year;
6.2 4 hour response time;
6.3 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday all time zones;
6.4 software support phone-in assistance;
6.5 availability of software License-to use associated to upgrade(s);/
6.6 Upgrade media & documentation included;
6.7 All other warranty/maintenance services outlined in the RFSO.

7. Training and Education Courseware:

7.1 The Offeror must have training classroom facilities in each of the required location for Sales and Service Outlets and provide, as a minimum, the following courseware:

7.1.1 system administration;
7.1.2 software development tool(s); and,
7.1.3 web development tool(s).

7.2 The Offeror shall demonstrate existence of these facilities within its bid by this RFSO closing date.

8. It is mandatory for all systems proposed to use Portable Operating System, Shell and Utility Compliance:

8.1 IEEE 1003.1 POSIX.1 and POSIX part 2 for the Shell and Utilities;
8.2 UNIX 93 with XPG4 and CDE or UNIX 95.

9. DOCUMENTATION:

9.1 All systems proposed must include and operator/user manual(s) available in English and French. These manuals must be comprehensive guides that offer the user instructions for setting up, installing, configuring all components. The manuals must be finished products in that they must be substantially bound. Stapled or paper-clipped photocopies or work labeled draft or work-in-process are not acceptable.

9.2 Technical manuals fore all systems proposed must be available either for purchase, or a accessible to representatives of the Crown, describing the hardware in sufficient detail for a qualified technician to repair the equipment to it's original level of operation. Technical manuals must be published by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the computer bid. Any third party components not originally equipped by the OEM (e.g. hard disks, display adapters, monitors etc.) must also be documented to the same level of detail and included as appendices in the OEM technical manual.

This is the only GROUP where "Intel" CISC based machines can be proposed. CISC and RISC based machines will be evaluated separately.

The following specification is divided into three sections. They are:

  1. CAPABILITIES BY CLASS;
  2. CONSISTENT SPECIFICATIONS/INCLUSIONS REGARDLESS OF CLASS; and
  3. UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS/PERFORMANCE BY CLASS.

1 The machine offered must have an upgrade capability, within the proposed chassis (model), disk exempt of greater than TPC-C specified value and there must be an audited result for a specific configuration in each category of the system proposed which exceeds the TPC-C specified value.
