Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR)

Health Services Research Priorities - The 2 to 5 year Outlook

From January to March 2001, the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR) and four other national organizations undertook a consultation to identify research themes for future applied health services and policy research. Called Listening for Direction: A national consultation on health services and policy issues (see link below to access the document), the main objective of this consultation was to help design research themes that respond to the needs of policy makers and managers in the health system over the next two to five years. These themes will inform strategic initiatives launched by the five partner organizations. They are one of several sources of input that will influence the partners' short- and long-term strategic directions. They are not intended to displace the important investigator-initiated work currently being funded by granting councils and others. The IHSPR will be releasing Requests for Applications in late July, 2001 for 2 major themes emanating from this report.
