Stanier Symposium on "Vaccine preparations and vaccination through understanding pathogenesis", November 22, 2002

The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity was a sponsor of the Stanier Symposium on vaccines at University of British Columbia on November 22, 2002.

The symposium entitled "Vaccine preparations and vaccination through understanding pathogenesis" with international speakers included Gordon Dougan from the University of London as the keynote speaker. The symposium presented and clarified the efforts leading to optimal vaccine protection for the foreseeable future. It was thus dedicated to a clear understanding of pertinent mechanisms of pathogenicity in order to focus attention on those unique attributes of pathogens involved in host interaction. The purpose was to recognize particular determinants that would stimulate efficacious host protection, as well as optimal adjuvants to present these antigens.
