Institute of Infection and Immunity (III)

Canadian International Immunization Initiative

The Canadian International Immunization Initiative (CIII) is a Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI). The GHRI is a partnership among Health Canada, CIDA, IDRC, CIHR and a number of its Institutes including the Institute of Infection and Immunity. The partners collaborate on global health research in Canada and help reduce the 10/90 gap worldwide. The partnership aims to strengthen and build capacity for global health research in Canada and developing countries, and to strengthen the effectiveness of overseas development assistance.

The Canadian International Immunization Initiative, Phase 2 (CIII2) provided research grants through a call for letters of intent in 2003 to increase access to and enhance immunization services in CIDA's priority countries. Six grants were approved in 2004 for funding of $2.1 million. A program summary and progress reports on the funded projects are available from the International Development Research Centre website.
