It is my pleasure to offer my most sincere congratulations to all the recipients being honoured this evening at the Canadian Health Research Awards.
Canadian health researchers play a key role in strengthening our health care system. Canada's New Government is pleased to support research in this field, which contributes to our continuous work in implementing a Patient Wait Time Guarantee.
In the many years that I have been involved in Canada's health care system, both provincially and federally, I have never ceased to be impressed by the excellence of Canada's health researchers and their ability to create new and important knowledge. More focus than ever before has been placed on translating that new knowledge into new solutions that will improve the health of Canadians.
I congratulate the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and all of the award winners on their outstanding accomplishments.
