Knowledge Translation Casebook: Call for Case Abstracts

This call is intended to solicit case abstracts of knowledge translation 'stories' or 'cases' that illustrate both successful and unsuccessful examples of the collaborative development and practical use of population and public health, or health services and policy research evidence. CIHR intends to use selected cases for educational purposes and to publish and distribute a Knowledge Translation Casebook. The core aims of this call are to encourage and recognize knowledge translation activity, provide a vehicle for publishing and sharing knowledge translation 'stories', provide concrete knowledge translation examples for training purposes, and demonstrate the potential impact of research evidence. CIHR Request for Applications (February 2005): Toward Canadian Benchmarks for Health Services Wait Times - Evidence, Application and Research Priorities

The purpose of this RFA is to fund initiatives designed to inform the work of Provincial/Territorial Deputy Ministers of Health in meeting those commitments in the Ten-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care related to establishing evidence-based benchmarks for medically acceptable wait times, in five priority areas: cancer, heart, diagnostic imaging, joint replacement, and sight restoration.
Registration deadline: March 15, 2005.
Full Application deadline: March 31, 2005.

GRÉAS Scholarship and Award Program

GRÉAS 1 Scholarship and Award Program: The main objective of GRÉAS 1 (research group on equity of access and organization of primary healthcare services) is to develop capacity for research on the ways primary healthcare services are organized and their impact on access to health services, as reflected in unmet health care needs among socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. Institute of Gender and Health/Ontario Women's Health Council Fellowship in Women's Health: Request for Applications

The goal of the OWHC/CIHR-IGH Joint Program is to provide support for highly qualified candidates engaged in women's health research in Ontario. The Fellowship Awards are intended to support researchers who have finished doctoral studies or a health professional degree and are now building their research careers in women's health. CAG Student Poster Competition

The CIHR Institute of Aging is again sponsoring a student poster competition at the CAG Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting in October 2005. A $500 prize will be awarded by the Institute of Aging in each of the following categories: Master; Ph.D.; Post Doctoral; and Resident/Medical Fellow. Undergraduate students are not eligible. This competition is also open to the Residents/Fellows of the Canadian Geriatrics Society and the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association. The deadline to submit an abstract is July 15th, 2005. Institute Advisory Board Member Recruitment

The Institute of Aging is inviting interested members of its constituency to apply for membership on its Institute Advisory Board. The 2005 cycle of CIHR - IAB membership renewal is underway and applications will be accepted online until March 31, 2005. New members will be invited to serve terms of three years beginning September 1, 2005.
An on-line Web Application Form will be posted until March 31/05.
