This call is intended to solicit case abstracts of knowledge translation 'stories' or 'cases' that illustrate both successful and unsuccessful examples of the collaborative development and practical use of population and public health, or health services and policy research evidence. CIHR intends to use selected cases for educational purposes and to publish and distribute a Knowledge Translation Casebook. The core aims of this call are to encourage and recognize knowledge translation activity, provide a vehicle for publishing and sharing knowledge translation 'stories', provide concrete knowledge translation examples for training purposes, and demonstrate the potential impact of research evidence. The purpose of this RFA is to fund initiatives designed to inform the work of Provincial/Territorial Deputy Ministers of Health in meeting those commitments in the Ten-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care related to establishing evidence-based benchmarks for medically acceptable wait times, in five priority areas: cancer, heart, diagnostic imaging, joint replacement, and sight restoration.

The CIHR Institute of Aging is again sponsoring a student poster competition at the CAG Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting in October 2005. A $500 prize will be awarded by the Institute of Aging in each of the following categories: Master; Ph.D.; Post Doctoral; and Resident/Medical Fellow. Undergraduate students are not eligible.
