Dr. Natalie Strynadka is an associate professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She obtained her Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta and remained as a Gordon Kaplan Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow. She initiated her independent research career in 1997 as an MRC Scholar, Burroughs Welcome New Investigator and Howard Hughes Medical Institute International Scholar. Her structural biology laboratory is known for making fundamental contributions to our understanding of the structure and function of membrane proteins and membrane protein complexes involved in antibiotic resistance and bacterial pathogenicity. Dr. Strynadka currently holds a CIHR Scientist awards, two HHMI International Scholar awards, and a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Senior Scholar award.
