Marine Systems
This directorate acquires military, law enforcement and civilian
ships, and manages ship refit, conversion and drydocking contracts.
It is also responsible for acquiring almost all structural, mechanical
and electrical equipment used on ships, including spare parts, along
with related services such as design engineering, investigation,
equipment repair and overhaul, and in-service ships maintenance.
The directorate is also responsible for providing quality assurance
by inspecting all civilian ships and associated equipment. It provides
client departments, foreign governments and other public or commercial
organizations with a wide variety of technical services, such as
condition surveys on ships, specification preparation, technical
advice and ship construction inspection and project management.
