Alcohol and Other Drug Use in Canada

Documenting the extent of the situation about alcohol and other drugs in Canada is a challenge to which many efforts are dedicated. In the next section, activities related to these efforts are presented.

Youth is a key target population prioritised under Canada's Drug Strategy. Teenage years, sometimes even early teen, are times when youth are making decisions in regards to alcohol and other drugs that will influence their whole life. It is essential to properly monitor among youth alcohol and other drugs rates and patterns of use, associated consequences and other related dimensions in order to be proactive in our prevention work and to make relevant policy decisions.
