Lisa Hardey

Lisa Hardey was appointed Assistant Commissioner, Communications and Citizen Engagement in September 2005.

Previously, she was the director general of Strategic Management at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. In this role, Lisa led the development of the department's planning framework, and the preparation of the department's annual reports on plans and performance. She also developed and implemented departmental strategies for risk management, performance measurement, governance and accountability structures, and was responsible for planning an annual leadership conference.

Prior to that appointment, Lisa was the director of the Internal Communications Bureau in the Deputy Minister's office where she advanced departmental goals of being one united department guided by common purpose, and achieving results through teamwork, inclusiveness, and continuous learning.

Lisa's extensive communications background includes having been a radio news reporter before joining the federal agriculture minister's staff in 1986 as press secretary and communications advisor.

Her experience also includes serving as the executive assistant to the Deputy Minister, as well as the director of the Strategic Planning and Analysis Division. Lisa also held positions of senior policy advisor, and strategic planning and policy coordination officer.
