Correctional Service of Canada

Louise Saint-Laurent

Louise Saint-Laurent was appointed Assistant Commissioner, Corporate Services in 1997.

Louise began her career in the private sector working for accounting firms in fields such as auditing, consulting and professional development. She then joined the Office of the Auditor General of Canada in Montreal, where she managed several major national and international files, including Société Radio-Canada, the International Civil Aviation Organization, Teleglobe Canada, the National Film Board and the Canada Lands Company, just to name a few. By working in this capacity, she gained vast experience in a variety of fields, such as information technology, systems development, and national and international portfolio management.

She has been working in the National Capital since 1985, the year she became responsible for reviewing the professional standards of the Auditor General of Canada .

In 1987, she set her sights on the Public Service and joined the Department of Public Works as director general, Internal Audit and Program Evaluation. She was appointed director general, Finance, for the same Department three years later. Louise saw an increase in her duties and responsibilities when Public Works Canada, Supply and Services Canada, the Government Telecommunications Agency and the Translation Bureau merged in June 1993 to create Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), as we know it today. She worked there until 1997, when she joined the Correctional Service of Canada.

Louise holds a master's degree in commerce from Université de Sherbrooke and is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec.
