Nutrition Labelling, Nutrition Claims and Health Claims

On January 1, 2003, Health Canada's amendments to the Food and Drug Regulations for nutrition labelling, nutrition claims and diet-related health claims were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II. Nutrition labelling became mandatory for most prepackaged foods on December 12, 2005. Smaller businesses have until December 12, 2007, to make the information available.

Please contact your local CFIA office regarding nutrition labelling, nutrition claims and diet-related health claims.
