Canadian Food Inspection Agency PART VI 63. A person who wants to have a food product inspected shall (a) make a request to an inspector at least 24 hours before the service is required or, if there is no inspector in the area, at the nearest inspection office at least 48 hours before the service is required; (b) present the food product at a place and time designated by an inspector; (c) make the inspection lot from which samples may be drawn by the inspector readily accessible and ensure that the food products are in a condition suitable for inspection; (d) be available to assist the inspector, or designate an employee on the premises who will be available to assist the inspector, to open and close any bulk or shipping containers and provide such other assistance as the inspector may request in order to provide the service; (e) indicate the grade name, if any, and the common name with which the containers will be labelled, if the food products are unlabelled at the time they are presented; and (f) pay the applicable fee prescribed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Fees Notice, in accordance with the conditions of payment set out in that Order. 64. (1) If, because of poor inspection conditions or latent defects in a food product, an inspector is unable to determine whether a food product meets a particular grade requirement or standard, the inspector shall postpone the inspection of the food product until the inspector is able to make a determination. (2) If a person has failed to pay a fee prescribed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Fees Noticer, an inspector may refuse to provide services in respect of a food product, or may withhold the issuance of an inspection certificate or any other document or withhold any information in respect of a food product that has been inspected, until the person pays the outstanding amount. |
